Mace is used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical drugs for nausea, vomiting, dysentery, flatulence, malaria, rheumatism, sciatica and leprosy. Nutmeg essential oil is used as a flavor enhancer in liquor, tobacco and tooth cream.
Indonesia is the second largest producer of Nutmeg, Mace and Cardamoms in the world after Guatemala, with a production of 32,700 tons and an area of 157,800 ha (FAO, 2014).
